Godwad Festival, 24-26 March 2012, Rajasthan

This new Godwad festival takes place in Ranakpur in the Pali Disctrict of Rajasthan . This three-day long cultural festival was held last year for the first time and has given a boost to the existing rich cultural legacy of the state. With the backdrop of the picturesque 13th C Sun temple at Ranakpur, the festival offers visitors events like classical music and dance, traditional processions of Marwari horses and elephants, horse dancing and racing and performances by folk Gair dance troupes. Additionally, for those who like, horse riding, trekking, camel safaris, jeep safaris, rock climbing etc. are activities that are available. The festival spills over into Sonana village, where the famous Khetlaji temple attracts thousands of devotees. Plans are afoot to include Narlai in the festival circuit where a sunset point at the Narlai dam is being developed.

The dates for the next year are 24-26 March 2012 and we look forward to seeing what new and exciting events it will offer. Contact us for more information and programmes that could include the festival.
